When most homeowner rake or blow then bag their leaves they are thinking about the look and health of their lawn. Rarely are they thinking about their own health and safety, but they should!
When raking and bagging leaves we recommend our clients at the very least wear gloves, eye protection, long sleeves, and long pants. You never know what could be hiding under a pile of leaves.
When bagging leaves sticks, rocks, bark, and other debris have been known to injure careless homeowners. When you’re ready for your lawn care chores to be done it’s easy to try to move too fast and accidentally cut yourself on a sharp piece of lawn debris.
Another source of danger when removing leaves can be pests. Even in the fall and winter months, nasty bugs and other pests lurk in your lawn. They especially love piles of leaves. If you’re allergic or sensitive to pests then it can be a good idea to leave the leaf removal to a professional.
